Credits

Credits track your usage of Tesorai services. There are two kinds:

Search credits — consumed when you run search jobs.
Chat credits — consumed when you use Tesorai Chat.

Your starting balance

New accounts start with a one-time grant of 10,000 search credits plus 100 chat credits per month. Chat credits reset each month and don’t roll over; the search grant is a one-time balance that doesn’t refill on its own. You can always see your current balance in the app.

Search credits — running jobs

Each search job you run consumes search credits. The cost depends on:

The total size of your input spectra files.
The search type (DDA vs DIA).
The digestion enzyme you select (an unspecific digest costs more).
The variable modifications you select (some PTMs, such as phosphorylation and ubiquitination, cost more).

Larger inputs and more demanding search settings cost more. You don’t need to work out the exact cost yourself: an estimated cost is shown before you start a job, so there are no surprises — you can review it and adjust your parameters before launching.

Chat credits — Tesorai Chat

Chat credits apply to free accounts only. On a paid plan, Tesorai Chat is unlimited and doesn’t consume chat credits.

On a free account, sending a message in Tesorai Chat uses 1 chat credit. The AI’s replies are free. If a response fails, the credit is refunded automatically.

Refunds

Tesorai only charges you for work that produces results:

If a job fails entirely, the full amount you were charged is refunded.
If a job partially completes — some input files produce results and others fail — you’re refunded the credits for just the files that failed. You still pay for the files that completed successfully.

Refunds are applied automatically once a job reaches its final state, so your balance reflects only the work that actually finished.

Running low or out of credits

When you run out of credits, the job or message is blocked and you’ll see an insufficient-credits message instead.
